Bird of Malaysia (BOM) – A Collaborative Fabrication Project with UPM

BIRD OF MALAYSIA (BOM) was successfully installed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on March 1, 2023, thanks to students of The Department of Architecture and the Department of Civil Engineering, Universiti Putra Malsysia led by Prof Madya Dr Mohd Fakiri Zaky Jaafar.

This unique structure showcases prominent Malaysians from different eras and sectors who have represented Malaysia and helped put the country on the world map since its independence on August 31, 1957.

BOM is a remarkable engineered piece made of Revotropix Paulownia wood, and it will be on display at KLIA until August 31, 2023, in celebration of Malaysia’s Independence Day. The Revotropix Paulownia wood used in this structure was commercially planted by sister company, Green Afforestation International Network Sdn. Bhd. (Gain Green) and the fabrication was completed by Ecopeneer.

Visitors to KLIA can now see and enjoy BOM – Bird of Malaysia, a popular Instagram spot for Malaysians and travelers alike. Don’t miss the chance to take a photo with it!

We are proud to have collaborated on this meaningful project.
